Day One

Pick of the Day: Christian Dior

Today we saw John Galliano for Christian Dior kicking off Haute Couture Spring 2010 in none other than the fashion capital of Paris of course.
And he certainly did not disappoint as his collection took on a roller-coaster of different trends & inspirations for all to revel in.
From equestrian to the gibson girl look, with a sense of period drama to many of the clothes. But apart from all the amazing pieces, it was the jewellery & hair that really caught my eye.
In parts the hair styles just had to have been inspired by Cruella de Ville (& I know your thinking how on earth did they manage to get the black netted snoods looking the size of soccer balls, well here's an insider secret for you: It was a Balloon) & the jewellery draped from the models frames like magnificent gigantic like chandeliers.
Towards the end (my favourite part of the show) when the collection moved into an array of extravagant cocktail dresses, Galliano showed us a more romantically inspired side with his fantastical cocktail dresses draped in a blanket of all the current trends including lace, tulle & nude colours. Other colours we saw running through the show as well were violets, fuchsia, petrol blues, sapphires, olives & mocha mixed with raspberry.
Anyway I will let you form your own opinion as you can view the entire collection here at Style.com.
But for now here are a few my top picks from Paris Haute Couture Spring 2010's first runway show.

I came across this old Vogue Paris editorial from June 2009.
Two words - Love it!!!!
This editorial certainly ages well, I think you could easily slip this into a modern Italian Vogue & get just as sterling an impact as it did in 2009.

Kate Moss ' Longchamp Designs

Kate Moss talks exclusively about her new collaboration, designing a multi-season handbag collection with Longchampin February's 2010 issue of Vogue Paris.
We all know Carine Roitfeld alway gets her way!!!
“The emerald green pochette, whose color I love, I wanted to be very simple, based on the shape of an envelope,” said Kate. “I would wear it with all black or all navy. Because I love to wear dove gray, I wanted a bag in that color to go with my gray jeans. The zebra was inspired by an old pony-printed valise from the ’70s that my boyfriend [Jamie Hince] brought back from San Francisco, very dry, very trashed, without any glamour, and which I loved. As for the bags in cognac leather, it’s a color and a very supple leather that we found in equestrian accessories stores, and we unfortunately can no longer find.”
The line hits stores February 11th.....
