Fall 2011

      I've fallen in love with these beautiful collars from Eleven Objects

I have always had a thing for pretty collars, especially those of the Peter Pan kind & in one of my many business ventures that I have thought of in my head (yet never seem to act upon), well clip on collars was one of them. So you can imagine how excited I was when I came across this website with a collection full of  beautiful collars made from delicious fabrics such as silk faille, lace and my favourite, calf hair. They are the perfect accessory to breathe new life into an old top or dress that you've fallen out of love with don't ya think!.
Eleven Objects was started when two designer friends, Linh Thi Do and Christine Rhee, simultaneously decided that their wardrobes would be vastly improved by a different kind of accessory - you guessed it: Collars. Check out the 'Wear it' section on their website for inspiration on how to style yours. I'll take one in the tan ponyhair with rose gold studs please!

// SPRINGS HOTTEST ACCESSORY \\

FUN FASHION FOR SPRING : PRADA's COLOURFUL FUR STOLE

Ok so this is obviously a passing fad that resembles a raccoons tail dipped in some brightly coloured paint but never-the-less it is a staple piece of many of the very fashionable peop's wardrobes and was the accessory of choice during last months fashion weeks with the likes of Marc Jacobs, Pop editor-at-large Shala Monroque & fashion risk-taker Anna dello Russo all donning one (or two).
Even if us normal folk won't be wearing one anytime soon, you have to admit it is fun to look at from the safety of our own laptops ;)

What: Monsoon & Accessorize LOVE Christmas 2010 Collection Preview
Where: Monsoon Grafton Street Store
When: November 4th 2010

I was so pleased to see that there was no doom & gloom evident in the Monsoon & Accessorize christmas collections this season.
It is soooo nice to see an assortment of colours from soft romantic tones to dazzling jewelled hues rather than the customary blacks & greys which we are now so accustomed to during the winter months.

After helping myself to the lovely spread of fruit, pasteries & coffee I then set off to take pics of the elegantly decorated showroom so I could give you guy's a more detailed insight to the collections. As I am not the best at editing down my images there are quite a few to scroll down through below so enjoy the exhibition! ;)
All thoughts on the collection welcome xoxo

Monsoon Collection
The christmas collection at Monsoon comprised of two gorgeous collections, the first being the luxurious 'Monsoon' collection with plenty of party gowns/sassy dresses etc to choose from, evidently inspired by Hollywood glamour & ornate decoration.

On The Rails

Monsoon Fusion Collection
The second was a more contemporary version called the 'Fusion' collection which was more my kind of style consisting of antique lace details, stripes, velvet & my favourite piéce de resistence, the vintage inspired faux fur jacket.
Fyi: Alexa Chung was supposedly spotted in the velvet & lace detailed top, which you can see below.

Accessorize Collection
Accessorize showcased a treasure trove of delightful antique 50's inspired pieces & unveiled a dressing-up box of magical accessories, as well as Paris inspired cute, quirky & fun pieces.

// FALL/WINTER 2010/11 TREND \\

The Lace Dress

Dare to bare this winter with this seasons cute & romantic new lace trend; in either 'Dark Romantic' bad girl black lace or in white or nude for the more romantic/angelic version.

Below Anna De La Russo wears the trend only as Anna De La Russo could, working the goth glam in black lace & looking fabulous in angelic white.
This hit boudoir-dressing trend continues to cast its spell of feminine mystique throughout the runways editorials & fashionistas alike.

How To Wear It

My very first memory of lace was probably the table cloth on my grand mothers dining room table when I was a little girl, oh how my perspective of this delicate material has changed.
This time round the lace isn't a table covering, doily or even an added detail of a garment, it IS the garment and thus we have the Fall/Winter 2010/11 lace dress.
The ultimate balance of lace in 2010 / 2011 is to be romantic but not over-girly; sensual but not over-suggestive.
Dare to wear them without a slip underneath like my fave fashionista Anna De La Russo (in Ireland I think not) but in a warmer more fashion forward city perhaps.
Just keep the hem a little longer to maintain that aforementioned balance.
